How do i know if this guy wants me, but not just to use me?

i was seeing a guy and we enjoed each others company, it all fell apart because other hearts were involved, after a few months of not meeting each other it has started up again. now this guy sas he misses me and that he loves me, but when it comes to texing he doesnt always tex back but when i dont he thinks i pissed off or upset. i dont know if he is keeping me hanging on as a call or not, he knows that i am deeply in love with him but i dont want all my emotions to get messed about with anymore, what should i do? is he stringing me along or does he have feelings there but is too scared as he has young kids and we all work at same place even my partner at current. we always tell each other about songs that make us think about each other i so confused i feel ill
