Ex Mortis help?

Me and my friend have been trying soo hard to play Ex Mortis..((so addicting)) We've playd the second one and beat it now were stuck on the first one whitch seems to be very hard for us. We went on google to find out some cheats but they all said that when you go out of Gwens room you go into the other room and grab an ax but what room is it and wheres the ax? And also what do we have to chop down? Please answer ASAP. Thanks--
